• Multi Core x86 64bit CPUs Intel/AMD 2.66Ghz+ running on SUN/HP/DELL/IBM hardware (8+ CPU's)
• Swap space OS configured
• Internet connection initiated by the Commodity DataServer for data update delivery using https to dist.morningstarcommodity.com
• SMTP mail relay available to send email to commoditydata-updates@morningstar.com for Commodity DataServer monitoring
• A dedicated Commodity DataServer Disk partition sized according to the data selection - NFS Voids support
• Two Morningstar application accounts set up for a Reader/Custom Writer, and Morningstar data Writer.
• System Backup Procedures in place (see CDS Best Practices Guide)
• Commodity DataServers should run on dedicated systems

Commodity DataServer Minimum Operating System Requirements - 64bit

• Solaris 10 update 8 and above x86 64bit
• Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 update 5 and above 64bit
• Redhat Enterprise Linux 6 update 1 and above 64bit⁽²⁾
• Ubuntu 10.04  and above 64bit
• Ubuntu 11.10 and above 64bit⁽²⁾
• Any other OS voids MIM Server Support
• Relational Database
  • MySQL 5.1.41 and above
  • Oracle 10.0G and above
• OS Software, wget, ksh, portmap, sharutils⁽³⁾, ghostscript⁽⁴⁾
• Recommended additional software, ssh, telnet, sysstat, sar, top, gtar (solaris)
• VMWare, Xen, Solaris Zones - Morningstar provides support for the Commodity DataServer in these environments provided the minimum requirements above are met and the virtualization software is transparent
